What data 2faauth.work processes, what it never processes, and the choices you have.
This policy explains which information is processed when you use 2faauth.work. In short: your 2FA secret keys never leave your device, the generator page uses no cookies, and advertising on our blog articles is provided by Google.
The 2FA code generator
- Secret keys, otpauth links and QR codes you enter are processed only in your browser. They are never sent to our servers, written to browser storage, placed in cookies or shared with anyone.
- QR codes are read locally. Camera images and uploaded pictures never leave your device.
- To correct an inaccurate device clock, the page requests the current server time. This request carries no personal or secret information.
- The generator page loads no third-party scripts, no analytics and no advertising.
Information our server receives
Like every website, our web server receives technical information with each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate limiting). Server logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.
To show the site in your language, we may determine your country from your IP address using a local database or a header added by our hosting provider. This lookup happens on our server, and the result is not stored.
Cookies
- The generator page sets no cookies.
- Our blog articles may show advertisements served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and measure their performance (see "Advertising" below).
- Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and visitors whose country we cannot determine, are asked for consent before personalised advertising is used, by our own consent message or by the one Google provides. Our own message loads no advertising code until you accept and stores your choice only in your browser (local storage), never on our servers. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of article pages.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on our blog articles. Ads never appear on the code generator, the home page, article lists or pages such as this one.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
